It is easy to photograph reflections in the small reservoirs, much easier than in the big lakes or fjords. Sometimes it is possible. This year the autumn in Norway was so nice. Sunny and calm. It was a big pleasure for my eyes. And my camera of course. This one picture was taken on the contractual border between Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane close to the road E39. Just one sunny afternoon on the road. And because the last days I spent in home and the weather is bad, so bad, I am looking back in my archive for some nice memories. This is one of them. Almost perfect? Yes because close to the mountain was a little wind blowing from the colder places in the shadow. I like the shadow on this picture, it remind me cat or dog paw. Do you think the same way? Almost perfect reflection.
This is one of the most amazing combination, where mountains meet fjord.
Easy to see everywhere in Norway, but always amazing. When I drive or walk, I love the moments when I finally reach the place where mountains meet fjord. Like everyone else who walking through the mountains I always know where I am. Because I am the visual nature and I always have a map in my head, I know where I am in every moments and I know what is around me. I know when I reach the point with the best view. And this is always amazing. The view is always unbelievable, like in this one place on picture. It was taken from some vie point on the road 13 with some old and closed restaurant. The point is located over Vikoy. The road along mountain on the right side, is still road 13 leads to Vangsnes and from there by the ferry to Balestrand. One of the point I have to visit in the next year. The fjord between this mountains is a Sognefjord. The biggest and longest fjord in Norway. And this is the point where mountains meet fjord
Because I love it, I always try to present it. If I have a time. The last few days, more than few, is difficult for me. Long time I was busy, now after few terrible rainy and dark days I feel so bad. When I am sick, the time leaking through the fingers and I can not do anything sensible. Even now when I write this, all my thoughts are somewhere else, not with me. I hope to be good soon and find the time to go outside and take some new pictures. So now some old picture from the archive. The beauty of mountains.
From my favourite autumn place. Gamlehaugen. Sun stain on autumn trees with the amazing twins boat houses. I photographed this place many times. Almost every year. This year the Gamlehaugen palace is under reconstruction, not so nice for photography, but the park and terrain around is always beautiful. Enjoy the nice view. Now weather is so bad, so I have a nice memories from fall.
Nice place to escape for weekend rest. Far away from every civilisation, with nice good road to drive to. With amazingly fantastic view on every side. With many paths through the terrain around. There is probably many kilometres to walk, on every direction. But I think it is only seasonal, from May to November. The rest, the winter time everything here is under the snow and it is so difficult to reach own house. Not so far from here, around 15 to 20 kilometres is places one of the well know Ski district Myrkdalen. I love places like this one on the picture, but…. for me is so bored always spend the weekend time in the same place. Many of known Norwegians, almost everyone have a cabin in the mountains, and they spend his weekends in it. So, maybe the terrain around is so big, and they find always something different to do, some new paths to walk. But for me it is bored. I need always changing environment. Picture taken on some trip along road 13.
This is always amazing to be in the place like this one. Especially if someone love mountains like me. Norway is so difficult terrain. Without bridges and tunnels, and the mountains roads was so difficult to move across this country. It is still many places so difficult to reach. Roads up and down is so crazy, but driving many kilometres on top is amazing. With all the view on every direction, with the view which change after all curves. Feeling yourself somewhere between the earth and heaven. Driving in the autumn season have a additional spectacular attraction, the colours. Mountains are overgrown by the mosses, heather’s and special kind of grass. And it all changing the colours to brown yellow carpet. It is like invitation to take a long walk. Looks beautiful but is dangerous. Better is to walk along the paths. All the plants hold the water, sometimes deep and sometimes slushy. Enjoy with me the road across mountains. This is the road number 13 between Myrkdalen and Vikøy.
Sometimes I play with my picture applying different visual effect
I am not so big fun of black and white photography. Maybe because I made mostly the landscape photography. I saw only few others who trying this effect to the landscape photo. So, now i tried it once more and you may compare it. Which is better? Different visual effect
Now the full colour:
On the picture is beautiful Alvøen in some nice autumn day.
Because Bergen is the city with lot of different schools, is the young people city. It also included the Art Schools. Sometimes the art coming to the streets. I do not know what art it is, but is funny. Found in Bergen
After short experience with little snow, now we have four seasons in one. Crazy weather. In Hordaland, on the west coast of Norway at all, good nice sunny weather means cold time, bad, rainy and cloudy weather always brings warm. In the nice autumn weather, when the sun is low, frost slowly coming along the valleys in shadow. This picture was taken somewhere in Hordaland through some of my autumns trip. Frost in the valley.
From Bergen, through the Hordaland is only one railway to Oslo. This is too difficult to build railways in terrain like here in Norway. Using the car is possibility to reach almost every point in Norway. There is many historical post roads, some of them only for walking, which was built many years ago. Some of them are really crazy roads. I have problem to imagine how the post was delivered. Now the old post roads are suitable to enjoy the landscape, driving or walking.
Railways through the mountains require a lot of tunnels and bridges. Railways in that terrain are expensive to build. For someone who want know more about this, I recommend to visit Flåm Railway museum. It perfectly shows how difficult was to build the little road from Flåm to Myrdal. In the era before dynamite, working by hands tools they build one meter of tunnel for one month. Crazy. Today it goes faster, but costs crazy money. On the picture below is just one (from many) place with amazing view which may enjoy the train passengers. Enjoy it also, on my picture. The mountain visible on the picture, it is Osterøy island. Landscape with railway tracks.
