Another one, one day trip to Odda.
Crazy summer. The second wettest summer in Norway. The rain starts in June, and during the summer was rainy almost everyday. Wet. So, sometimes the weather give us some break. And it was in this weekend. Almost whole day without rain. Nice day for the trip. One day trip to Odda. Odda valley, most know like the waterfall valley, was so crazy this time. The power of all the waterfalls gives the thrill. I like this small town. I like to watch all the people from whole world who came here and waiting for transport to the start point, to climb on Troltunga. Many different people and many different clothes. Easy to see the experienced travelers and completely amateurs without any equipment or even without enough good shoes. Crazy people.
This was lazy trip with many stops. The picture below was taken from one of the place I ever stop. Exactly on other side of this mountain is the city Odda. I love this view. And here is always quiet. Nice to eat some breakfast with the view like this. It taste better. I hope you will also like this nice view. I have pictures from here taken on every kind of weather, in every season. And the majesty mountain is always beautiful.
Some pictures from the waterfalls I will present later. Not everything is ready yet.
I wish myself the autumn season to be much better than the summer. A lot of place to visit. I have a lot of plans. The end of this week from Thursday I will spend partialy in Jotunheim National Park. Forecast is good, so I hope to bring back a lot of nice pictures for you.
Wet summer in Norway, again
Last vacation I spent in Norway. It was fantastic time on Lofoten Islands. So this year I visited the West Europe. Summer ride. Few countries, many cities and lot of attraction. Nothing so much original, but it was a nice time. 6150 kilometers plus ferry between Denmark and Norway. Almost two weeks. Unfortunately when I drove through the Orresund bridge, weather was so, so bad. I saw only the fog on both sides. After this one bad day, weather was nice and ideal for my ride. Through the whole Germany and some Benelux countries. It is always nice to visit some places again and watch the changes. Last time I was there almost 22 years ago.
Many nice memories from summer in Germany, including the amazing time in Bavaria. Because the touristic season is in full, many places I visited early in the morning. I love to watch the small places when they wakes up. And I love to drink coffee with some local baking in almost empty cafe bars.
The most worst memories are from Amsterdam. I like this city, really. But twenty years ago it was not that crazy like I saw it this time. And first time I drove the car by myself through the city center in the evening rush time. Horrible. Next time probably in the next year I will try to stay away and use the public transport.
At the end, in Norway again, I cross the Hardangervidda National Park along the old road number 7. Unfortunately the weather was so bad again and I have not a pictures.
Picture taken in June on the Balestrad trip.
Heaven is so close. This one is in Balestrand.
My private list of breathtaking places in Norway always expands. Another one place from trip through the Balestrand area. View point on the road 13, Gaularfjellet. It have no sense to write something about this view. There is no words to describe it. For me it is one of the most incredible view. I visited many places, from Lofoten through the Geiranger and Loen/Olden valleys and of course Aurland, but this on delighted me. The rest you may see on the picture below. Heaven
Something else for everyone who explore Norway by car. This is untruth that the most amazing road to drive through is the Trolstingen. Believe me. The last four years I drove through the almost every possible and impossible roads, mostly in Hordaland. Trollstingen looks nice in the touristic folder only because someone promote it. On this picture below you see the crazy part of the road 13 in Balestrand. Looks similar, but for me is much better and much more crazy. Drivers heaven – So if you plan to visit this part of Norway it is absolutely must drive.
And so, now we have a vacation time. After the last year trip along Norway, this summer I will spend in Germany. I hope to see many nice places. I will explore the south west part. See you on the road, and have a good vacation too.
Balestrand again. Shot from the ferry
It was almost the end of my short and first trip through the Balestrand. This is shot from the ferry back to the other side of Sognefjord. On the other side the road again climb to the top of the mountains, again snowy time. I am so glad, I discover this places. Many times before I thought about this trip, but always was something else to do or to visit. To really explore this area I will need to take a longer trip. For few days. Will be nice to climb some mountains and photograph the view from top. From this place Sognefjord, the longest fjord, start to be really interesting and full of nice views. It is not so far to the Aurland, but we are in Balestrand again. One of the nice view I present on my picture below. Taken from ferry with wide angle lens. Enjoy it and have a nice Sunday. Here in Bergen is still rainy. Probably this is the most wet June ever….
Grey time on Sotra. Bad weather in long exposure.
So, at the end I bought some filters to my camera. I have read little about camera settings and I drove on Sotra to try it in practice. I am not sure it is even visible on this picture, but the camera was set on 30 seconds. Water and sky looks different, but I think I need learn a lot. It was a grey day with strong wind, without rain. Clouds moved fast and with this part of the picture, I am so glad. Not sure about water. Grey time. Bad weather in long exposure.
When I get some practice, I will try to photograph the most beautiful and the ordinary waterfalls from Hordaland. Of course in Long time exposure. And I hope you will like it.
I am busy now before vacation, and it looks like I will be busy even after the vacation. It is also the reason why I do not post for long time. In my archive is a lot of nice pictures from the trip around Balestrand and from few other places I visited in the last time. Some are very nice and I hope they soon be visible here. Thank you to all who still visiting my blog. Thank you to all my friend. I hope you all have a good time now.
It was long one day trip to Balestrand
So, this is June in Balestrand. Hard to believe. Two times through the road number 13 I had a chance to enjoy snow. Once in Balestrtrand, which you may see on the picture, second time after crossing Sognefjord between Vikøy and Myrkdalen. I have never been there before, and it was good time to explore this part. I think I have to try once more in the summer time, but for more than only one day. Crazy drive. Long one day trip, 460 kilometers, mostly driving, with short breaks just for to take some photo. From morning to evening. But I love it. The scene on the picture is probably very popular scene and many people stop here. This is Nystølvatnet and now in the beginning of June is still frozen.
The touristic season in Norway is already start. Through the road I met many cars from Deutschland and Netherlands. Probably most of them is driving to the North part. Campers rules on the roads to North. I would like some day to drive the same road slowly, without time limit.
Have nice time and enjoy the June view from Balestrand.
Terrace dream time
Temperature like in summer. Sun shine. Noon. Only visible signs what season are now, is the snow on the top of mountains. Dreamy time. Small stop before second part of my trip. The second part will be tiring and I know it even before. Walking trips in Norway are always tiring. So now I am here. Because it is 17th of May, very important day, the terrace is decorated festively. Nice to sit here and look round. Sound of two waterfalls on opposite sides, falls into the ear. Happy lazy moment. Terrace dream time. I hope you will like my picture from this moment. Even if it is daub, it perfectly describe this moment.
Next step before the second part of the trip is short walk through Mo and visit on the small but beautiful cemetery.
I love Modalen with it fascinating views
It is located around 100 kilometers from Bergen. Not so far like for the Norwegian distances. And it is a real pearl. Even the road to Mo from Romarheim. Almost every one curve gives a different and still fine views. I love the waterfalls. I presented it here before. In this time of the year with melting snow the waterfalls are strong and beauty. On the picture is visible the small one. Geitaskardet. It is this one which gives the special taste for coffee served on the restaurant terrace. With many small clouds on the sky is amazing experience to watch the game of shadow and light on it. On opposite side is located the highest and stronger waterfall. About it I will write later. So, this is one of the fascinating views from the road on Mo in Modalen, small village located in natural paradise.
Holiday travel to Mo.
After few years in Norway I beheld few National day parades. This year I decide to spent this time outside Bergen. I like Modalen. Nice place to spend the time active and lazy too. Coffee on the restaurant terrace with view on the fjord, still snowy mountains and two waterfalls tastes so good. Even if it is like in many other places coffee from thermos. At morning time in home I looked on the Google Maps and I found some small road visible only on high zoom. I decided to look for it. And I found it. The place seems to be amazing but because it was already afternoon close to evening, I do not walk it so far. Few kilometers only and back. This road is much longer and some summer day I will want to walk to the end, to the two lakes on the top of this mountains. So soon I will present some shots from this time and later much more. But today some shot how looks Mofjorden in the amazing May light. From my holiday travel.
Celebrating the 17th of May in Modalen was big pleasure.
Middle of May somewhere in Hardanger
I love Hardanger, I love Norway. Just before the 17th of May, Norwegian National Day, I want to present another shot from my last trip to Hardanger.
I love this place even because there is still not much tourists. Cruise ships passing Hardanger fjord in the way to Eidfjord. There is many beautiful and hidden places around, but it requite time to rich it. Few days ago someone ask on Facebook about trip to Trolltunga. On the beginning of May!!! So, in this time this trip is only for professionals with good mountain equipment. Unfortunately some people still trying and gives a lot of work for rescuers. Sometimes it requite to use helicopter to take dawn some crazy people. Even now in the Middle of May somewhere in Hardanger is still lot of snow on the top, and it looks amazing. For photographers and for all who understand mountains.
Enjoy the view and celebrate with Norway the 17th of May – Norwegian National Day
