This was in Saturday, Hardanger in one beauty day in May.
After few sunny days, this weekend we have a summer. Yesterday my car show 23 degrees in the Odda valley. Amazing sunny day, fantastic for the trip. Seeing Hardanger still between the winter and summer was so beauty. Now I have many pictures to show in the next few posts. Hardanger in one beauty day in May.
So, below is one picture taken on the road to Odda. I love this view with the snow on top and the first green signs and meadows. Enjoy this view and wait for more, soon.
It was a good Saturday, it was a nice weekend time.
A long walk to the top of one from seven Bergen`s mountains. This was a Rundemanen. The top is at 568 meters. The road to the top was built in 1912. It is less popular than the lowest Fløen top, but is in the same massif and including many walking path to the other tops. The road leads along the two big drinking water reservoirs. Most of the road is without any spectacular views. This is on the top. The view 360 degrees around for every part of the city and the landscape around. I wrote most, but not the whole. View on the two reservoirs are beauty. And the road gives possibility to watch on it from different directions. From the half of this road is also beautiful view on the highest top Ulriken from the back side. Below I present it on the picture. I like the sky above, and you? It was a long nice walk and nice weekend time.
This post I wrote two weeks ago, but I had no time to post it. This view below shows how looks the firs few days of spring here in Bergen. Cold, lot of rain and snow. The highest part of surrounding mountains was white. Brrrrr. Still is little bit cold and wet but better then the last two weeks.
Already long time since I post last time. I hope to do it more frequently now on spring time. The landscape around looks better.
It was a beautiful one summer day in Hardanger
I love Hardanger, I love the road to Hardanger from Bergen. Many times in summer I visit this beauty p[art of Norway. Also in autumn time is worth to visit it. This is the apple region. Always along the road are the places where is possible to bay apples, or other fruits, or the apple juice. Nice to try fresh fruits here with the view on Hardangerfjord and clean, fresh air. On the road between Bergen and Norheimsund, is many places obligatory to stop and enjoy. Even if I was there many times. The two most important is the two waterfalls. The first – Fossenbratte and the second one – Steinsdalsfossen. Both are beautiful. About two years ago close the second one was built the new parking and modern building for Tourist information. I photograph this building many times but never had time to present it. So, on todays photo from one summer day in Hardanger I present the picture of the second waterfall Steinsdalsfoseen taken through the panoramic window on it. This scene I photograph also many times, but this one I think is the good enough to present for You. I hope You will like it.
Because is Friday evening I wish you all to have nice time all around the world.
The cabins along road 13
Nice place to escape for weekend rest. Far away from every civilisation, with nice good road to drive to. With amazingly fantastic view on every side. With many paths through the terrain around. There is probably many kilometres to walk, on every direction. But I think it is only seasonal, from May to November. The rest, the winter time everything here is under the snow and it is so difficult to reach own house. Not so far from here, around 15 to 20 kilometres is places one of the well know Ski district Myrkdalen. I love places like this one on the picture, but…. for me is so bored always spend the weekend time in the same place. Many of known Norwegians, almost everyone have a cabin in the mountains, and they spend his weekends in it. So, maybe the terrain around is so big, and they find always something different to do, some new paths to walk. But for me it is bored. I need always changing environment. Picture taken on some trip along road 13.
This is what my eyes love, road across mountains
This is always amazing to be in the place like this one. Especially if someone love mountains like me. Norway is so difficult terrain. Without bridges and tunnels, and the mountains roads was so difficult to move across this country. It is still many places so difficult to reach. Roads up and down is so crazy, but driving many kilometres on top is amazing. With all the view on every direction, with the view which change after all curves. Feeling yourself somewhere between the earth and heaven. Driving in the autumn season have a additional spectacular attraction, the colours. Mountains are overgrown by the mosses, heather’s and special kind of grass. And it all changing the colours to brown yellow carpet. It is like invitation to take a long walk. Looks beautiful but is dangerous. Better is to walk along the paths. All the plants hold the water, sometimes deep and sometimes slushy. Enjoy with me the road across mountains. This is the road number 13 between Myrkdalen and Vikøy.
From Hordaland, landscape with railway tracks
From Bergen, through the Hordaland is only one railway to Oslo. This is too difficult to build railways in terrain like here in Norway. Using the car is possibility to reach almost every point in Norway. There is many historical post roads, some of them only for walking, which was built many years ago. Some of them are really crazy roads. I have problem to imagine how the post was delivered. Now the old post roads are suitable to enjoy the landscape, driving or walking.
Railways through the mountains require a lot of tunnels and bridges. Railways in that terrain are expensive to build. For someone who want know more about this, I recommend to visit Flåm Railway museum. It perfectly shows how difficult was to build the little road from Flåm to Myrdal. In the era before dynamite, working by hands tools they build one meter of tunnel for one month. Crazy. Today it goes faster, but costs crazy money. On the picture below is just one (from many) place with amazing view which may enjoy the train passengers. Enjoy it also, on my picture. The mountain visible on the picture, it is Osterøy island. Landscape with railway tracks.
Everything around me, Norwegian landscape
Because I live in Norway, because I am here more than six years, and because I travelled a lot through this country – the view like on the picture below does not make an impression. This view or similar or some better is everywhere around. It is hard to believe for some who does not visit Norway yet, but it is true. 1100 fjords surrounded by millions of mountains, and again, and again. Of course I love this country and this landscape. In my beginning I started my exploration from walks through and along Bergen. I remember my first walk up to mount Ulriken. And it was terrible experience. Times go by, and walked every single day to form my condition. Later I travelled close to the city, not so far. Now I am so crazy. I may drive whole day and at the end climb on selected mountain, walk down and drive back home. Only for see this one unique view and of course take a photo. I am not the one, almost whole Norwegians do the same way. On my path I meet hundreds of nice people. And this is beautiful.
Now after many years here only the spectacular view and spectacular landscape make me impressed. My Google Maps is full of stars with saved places I want to visit. I want to go to this places because I saw it on pictures from other people. I know it is always the same drive, climb and drive back but I think I love it.
So this is simple Norwegian landscape taken somewhere in Hordaland. Somewhere on my road to nowhere, just for pleasure to drive and enjoying the view around me. Somewhere on my road to discover another attraction to photograph and shows here. Have a nice evening everywhere.
This is the beautiful Hordaland.
Probably because I live here in Hordaland province, for me is the most beautiful place. Ha ha. I know many beautiful places in Norway, in the other provinces. All of them are nice and have some amazing, breathtaking places. Many people said, and many think, Hordaland is the best. Because it is the Gate to the Fjords. And it is true. And I love the beautiful Hordaland. For my weekend trips I have no time to explore the other provinces, Most of my trips is along Hordaland. When I start few years ago, I began from Bergen. Later I photographed the area around Bergen, close to the city. And Sotra, my big love. The last year I started exploring the distant places, even the Lofoten more than 5000 kilometres from Bergen. And I always go back with pleasure to the Hordaland. And on the picture below one more time you may see why….
Place I like in Bergen. Villaveien
In Bergen is many places I like. Sometimes it is only small narrow street. Sometimes whole district. Some parks. Places. This is short street over the Nygårdsparken. The street have a name Villaveien because along it is few nice old villas. Probably it was a reach people district long time ago, I do not know. The houses are so nice and renovated. I was showing this houses few times, here on my blog. Even this one which I like a lot. Because is painted in black and white it reminds some ecclesiastic, sacred building. Always when I am walking on this street I wonder what was this house previously. Maybe someone who knows give some information. The buildings, villas around now belongs to the Bergen University. About this one I do not know, because when the rest was reconstructed and painted this one no. In some specific Bergen`s weather, with the dark cloudy sky it looks like taken out from horror movie. I like to be here in every time I can. The autumn season gives this place many nice colours, and it is nice, even cute scenery. So, this is the Villaveien with house I like. I hope you will like it too.
Another reason why I like walking along this place is because the tourists have no time to come here. So far from the market places.
Exactly at the gate to the park this street changing the name to Parkveien. This is short street on the other side of park with few nice small hotels.
Open museum in autumn mood, Damsgård
The museum is placed in bad place. Or maybe different. So close to the industrial zone in one side and the main road in other side. In the last year it was reconstructed. Few days ago, I had to be close this place, and because was so nice weather I take some walk around. Now it looks much better then year ago. Even the district around look better, I think people who lives close. like this place to walk. For other it does not exist. So far from the city, little bit covered with no place to park cars. Moreover, this is a big problem in Bergen. I think not only for Bergen. Is many nice places to visit along the city, but is no places to leave the cars.
So, this is now nice place to visit, Open museum in autumn mood. On the picture is only the part visible from the road, little bit inside is few nice reconstructed wood buildings, including the old shop and few more. In front is probably the old machine to draw out boats. Definitely worth to visit.
